Is Legacy Run free?

Yes. The core Legacy Run game is free to play, with no account required. Expert Mode and the Salary Cap are free and can be turned on with any draft mode. Pro unlocks additional modes, advanced scouting and pro statistics, customization, dynasty and team saves, and an ad-free experience.

What does Pro add?

Pro unlocks every extra layer of Legacy Run and removes ads. It is $5 a month or $20 once for life.

• Save and replay: Team Vault, allows you to save your favorite teams and play them head to head against one another. Dynasty Save slots allows you to save your dynasty runs and export out the full dynasty trajectory. Also every past Daily Challenge, the full Daily card archive, and one missed-streak repair each month.
• More modes to play: Arcade, Peak Mode, solo Duels, decade and franchise challenges, and unlimited Rule Forge. To learn more about these modes, see How to Play.
• Deeper basketball: Advanced scouting reports and player stats, shot profiles and comparative metrics, and live broadcasts of playoff and head-to-head series.
• Ladders: Create your own public challenge boards and enter as many other Ladders as you want.
• Court skins, including dark mode, plus full Rivalries history for games against friends.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no sign-up, and the game never asks for your name or email. Your streak and saved teams live in your own browser. See the privacy policy for details.

Are these real player stats?

Yes. Every player is a single real pro season with that season's actual stats, from the public Basketball-Reference-derived dataset by Sumitro Datta (Creative Commons).

How is a player's rating decided?

It is built from that season's real statistical record, and the engine behind it is calibrated against more than 1,600 real team-seasons. Read How the Ratings Work for more detail.

Why did my team of superstars lose?

The scouting report shows the strengths and weaknesses of your five before you run the season. Advanced stats and scouting reveal even more.

Which eras can I use?

Any of them. The player pool runs from the early 1950s through the most recent completed season, and the engine accounts for era differences so cross-era teams are rated fairly.

What is the Daily Challenge?

A new puzzle every day, rotating through six formats, from naming a mystery legend to filling a trophy of linked plaques. Each day features a new anchor star.

Why do players get worse in dynasty mode?

They age through their career. When a Dynasty runs past real history, players follow an aging model built from careers across league history. Young players can improve, while older players decline. No Dynasty lasts forever.

Is this affiliated with the NBA?

No. Legacy Run is an independent, fan-made project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the NBA or any team. It uses no logos or player likenesses. Team abbreviations and colors appear only as factual identifiers for a season.
